Draft guru Mike Mayock said rookie Nick Foles “looks like a completely different guy from what I saw in the Senior Bowl a year ago.” Mayock had a fifth-round grade on Foles thanks to concerns about arm strength and footwork. The Eagles took him in the third round and he’s proceeded to post a 77.7 passer rating while throwing five touchdowns against four interceptions in six games. “I think you can easily talk yourself into [believing you have] a franchise quarterback,” Mayock said. “But if I’m them, I wouldn’t be jumping up and down, saying, ‘I’ve got my guy.’ I’d be saying, ‘We may have a good young building block here. But we still have to figure that out.’” The next coach of the Eagles will have the final word on how much competition is brought in for Foles this offseason.
Not only did you have to listen to Mayock say he was wrong here, but if you watched the Thursday Night Game between the Bengals and the Eagles, you had to listen to Mike Mayock continuously praise Vontaze Burfict, who he darn near killed at the Draft with words. Mayock said he would not be in this league, and he was not a good prospect. Mayock had to erase those poor words from last draft, by talking up the young Arizona State product on the Thursday Night Game. You would have thought that Mayock was an advocate for Burfict, but that was not the case. That was a case of being “Wrong”. Some of these draftniks are great, but Mayock is still one of the best in the industry, even though he has been wrong as of late.
PS: Guess how many personal fouls Vontaze Burfict has in the NFL through week 16? NONE, YEP THAT’S RIGHT, A CHANGED MAN? OR A CRITICIZED MAN?
